Himachal Pradesh grapples with severe disruptions as a fresh layer of snowfall blankets the state, causing the closure of 475 roads, including five national highways. The adverse weather conditions also lead to the disruption of 333 electricity supply schemes and 57 water supply schemes. The affected regions include Chamba, Kangra, Kinnaur, Mandi, and Shimla, with significant road closures reported in each area. Lahaul Spiti police, through their social media handles, provide updates on weather and road statuses for various districts, reporting snow depths ranging from 1-5 feet in nine stations, including Keylong, Kaza, Sumdo, and Udaipur.
Despite the picturesque snowfall attracting a large number of tourists to Himachal Pradesh since the New Year, authorities, particularly the Himachal Pradesh Police, caution travelers to assess weather conditions before undertaking journeys. With other North Indian states grappling with fog, Himachal Pradesh stands out as a destination experiencing snowfall.
